Who We Are continued...

In 2007, the election was a very close one, as little as 20 votes made the difference between winning an election and losing it. After four recounts, Sue Weintraub and Scott Minnick were elected to office and they spent the next 2 years representing the community who elected them by listening to residents concerns and speaking out about...

  • Economic development that is right for the town
  • Quality of life issues are discussed at the Town Council table for better controlling noise
  • Affordably improving our roads and bridges
  • Trying to bring discussion back to reality about our high school's accreditation
  • Filing for and successfully receiving a $50,000 affordable housing grant
  • Recommending policies to save money by using fewer vendors
  • Providing new tax exemptions for our Seniors over the objections from the other two major parties
  • Voicing their concerns about the lack of zoning enforcement
  • Supporting our commissions to do the jobs they were appointed to do

Sue and Scott provided strong leadership by asking the hard questions that needed to be asked while insisting on answers. They broke up the status quo of simply rubber stamping how taxpayer dollars were being wastefully spent on pie in the sky efforts for expensive $60,000,000 projects that the town can't afford.

In 2009, the Chatham Party will focus on progress for the town, proper planning, economic development done right, quality of life issues, and by being an independent voice for the community.

Once again, it’s up to the people to vote for who should lead our Town. We need your support to build on the progress that we’ve made and make East Hampton a healthier community and a better place to live.
