Irene Curtis for Zoning Board of Appeals

Irene Curtis (D)

My name is Irene Curtis and I’m informing the residents of East Hampton that I’m a candidate for an elected position on the Zoning Board of Appeals, under the auspices of the Chatham Party.

I am a graduate of East Hartford High and attended University of Hartford. I’ve been a resident of East Hampton since 1970, having enjoyed living in this Town and Lake area immensely and very happily raised our two sons here with my husband, James. I have three granddaughters.

I am a five-year member of the Conservation-Lake Commission and currently serve as President of a local beach community organization on the Lake Pocotopaug.

I’m a System Software Support Engineer having worked in IT, for CIGNA for 27 years (retired) and currently with the Citizen’s Financial Group. My areas of responsibility are in the areas of operational planning, policy formulation, vendor/software management, decision-making, procedure and process development and problem resolution for computer application systems.

I am currently employed with Citizens Financial Group as a Software Support Engineer and a member of the Colchester Business Association and the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce.

Why I'm Running

I really became interested and involved with civic responsibility when the Chatham Roundtables were held years ago. That’s where I met many townspeople who expressed their concerns and wonderful ideas for their future vision of our dear Town… and also met the dedicated people who formed the Chatham Party to address the needs of our community as a whole.

As a member of the ZBA, I’d accept responsibility to protect the personality, vitality and appropriate growth of our community with careful consideration for the betterment of our residents, and the protection of our Lake and watersheds. I’ll maintain the integrity of the rules and regulations under which the ZBA operates and will always deploy equitable judgment when applying our ordinances.

I look forward to serving the Town of East Hampton in this capacity, and I’d appreciate your vote and confidence, Please vote for the Chatham Party ticket this Election Day.

Today, the Chatham Party has grown as more residents recognize the need for a third choice, and so I am excited to be able to support a truly excellent slate of diverse professionals for Town Council, BOE, BOF and ZBA this November.

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself and to offer my services to our town on this critical position with the Zoning Board of Appeals.
