Scott Minnick for Board of Education
Democrats, Independents and Republicans Working Together
Scott Minnick (C) |
I am a life-long East Hampton resident and 1986 graduate from the East Hampton school system. I reside in my family house with my wife, Lynn, our two children Julien (8) and Charlotte (5), and their great-grandmother, Rose Hastings (91). I have a Bachelor of Arts in French, Cultural Anthropology and Linguistics from CCSU and a Master of Arts in French and ESL from West Virginia University. I have been teaching 8th grade French for the town of Glastonbury for 14 years. During that time I also have taught Spanish and coached indoor and outdoor track at the Glastonbury High School and cross country at the middle school for several years. It's been an honor to have served for four years as your Town Councilman with the Chatham Party. While on Town Council, I served as liaison to the Board of Education (2005-2007) and as liaison to Park & Recreation TC (2005-2009). The Chatham Party is a challenge to the long established political favoritism that has thwarted our community from growing as it should. During the past years, the Chatham Party has made progress in bringing needed positive changes to East Hampton and has grown as more residents recognize the need for a third choice of caring residents who are not politically connected. I am excited to be running with a truly excellent slate of diverse professionals who will collectively help to make East Hampton a town we can be proud of. Why I'm RunningI would like to be part of making our children’s educational experience a positive and formative one and to make its public financing more efficient, understood, and supported. As a member of the BOE, I will apply my experience as a teacher with my experience in town government as a councilman to advance programming and curriculum, support and facilitate the high school renovation project in a way that is most beneficial to students and our community, provide more transparency and communication with the public, and assure transportation and building safety for our students. |
