Kyle Dostaler for Town Council

Kyle R. Dostaler (C)

I hold a B.S. in Political Science with post-graduate advanced studies. Currently I am a self-employed Information Technology professional and a web developer.

Before becoming a freelance consultant and developer, I worked in several business environments including a large international law firm as a Systems Administrator, a national legal placement services company as an IT Manager, and as an Internet application developer for a web-based electronic invoicing company. These experiences have given me the hands-on perspective necessary to understand business challenges and offer viable, sustainable solutions.

I also volunteer considerable time to local and non-profit organizations including TEEG, CONCORA and the Connecticut Lacrosse Officials Association. Along with many other residents, I was very involved with the Take Back Our Town effort to petition to the Town Council from abolishing the position of Chief of Police and restructuring the Police Department.

I am a member of the Independent Creative Club, the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce and the Middlesex Chamber Technology Committee. I have lived in East Hampton since 1998 and have been married for 17 years.

Vision for the Town

In the past year and a half, East Hampton's elected officials have wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars in their illegal pursuit to further causes that were extremely harmful and embarrassing to our Town. As a member of Town Council, I, along with my fellow Chatham Party members, will provide the leadership needed to move East Hampton in a new direction by making informed, fact-based and fiscally sound decisions.

Unlike certain members of the currently serving Town Council, we will follow the law and endeavor to restore public trust and manage taxpayer dollars more wisely.

The town must move forward to enhance its image and proactively pursue smart growth initiatives for sustainable economic development in the Village Center and in other areas of the town where appropriate.

Once elected, a Chatham Party Town Council would hire an experienced, professional, innovative, ethical and qualified Town Manager who will make the proper management and governing of our Town his first and foremost priority.

Town Involvement

In addition to my professional experience, I have been a very active member of our community. I was an elected member of the East Hampton Town Council from 2005 to 2007.

During my brief tenure on Town Council I helped to provide leadership to:

  • Create a Streetscape Committee responsible for Route 66 improvements to sidewalks, signage and lighting
  • Receive the Town's first STEAP Grant in the amount of $500,000
  • Create the FIRST East Hampton Redevelopment Agency
  • Acquire open space property with the Town’s FIRST open space grant
  • Create the Town's FIRST Ethics Commission
  • Create the Town's FIRST Lake Pocotopaug Commission
  • Pass bonding for repair roads and sidewalks
  • Pass bonding for new Main Street Bridge
  • Require the Town Manager to produce Town Annual Reports
  • Provide funding to our schools to improve security and communications
  • Act on concerns about traffic in the Middle Haddam Village
  • Appoint commissioners based on qualifications, not party affiliation
  • Insist on transparency and accountability in Town government
  • Provide tax relief for East Hampton senior veterans
