Why I'm Running for Office
Dean Maurice - Board of Finance
Taxpayers First
My name is Dean Maurice and I am offering my services to the town of East Hampton by running as a candidate for the Board of Finance. I believe I can help assure responsible budgeting to balance the interests of all taxpayers.
My work experience provides me with the skills and knowledge required for the job. I am presently employed as a Director of Operations at Thomson Reuters. As part of my primary responsibility for the Healthcare and Science division I review planning and budgeting issues on a regular basis. I have both government and commercial experience as an engineer and a manager with over 25 years work experience. In addition I have an educational background that includes a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. (B.S.E.E) and Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.).
Like all taxpayers, I have a vested interest in the town and a responsibility to support budget decisions that make best use of our limited resources. I am resident and with the exception of a period of time while attending college and time working on a contract for the US military and US Law Enforcement. I have lived here all of my life. I am a property owner and a parent with children in the school system as well as a multiple generations of extended family living in town. I understand that many times our short term decisions have an impact on future issues and I would vote to direct spending where it is most effective for taxpayer benefit.
Though I thought about potentially running with another party, I decided that the Chatham Party was where I could do the best for our community. This is due to the fact that the Chatham Party is unencumbered by pressure from the party leadership, which in other parties seem to focus on spending decisions to support special interests, which may not be in the best interest of the town. Should I be elected, my only interest related to decisions on the Board of Finance will be what is best for the town taxpayers.
On Election Day please vote your support for me and the rest of the Chatham Party.
