Letter to the Rivereast Editor
Susan Weintraub - Town Council
Be Independent
It's been a challenging and exciting two years serving our on Town Council. I would not trade the experience for anything.
While many meetings were a bit more emotionally charged than I'm used to in the business world, I also saw glimpses of how it can be when everyone works together for the good of the town.
People often ask how I stay so calm and collected when attacked for my opinions at council meetings. I don't take it personally. I'm doing the right thing for the right reasons. East Hampton politics is definitely a full-body contact sport. Thick skin, a good attitude and perseverance are mandatory.
What will I work on if elected for a second term? I would like to revisit less expensive and better solutions for our facilities plan and water system. Patterning off the success of the Redevelopment Agency, I would recruit talented professionals from our community to take a fresh look at options and opportunities. Our mission would be to get the best value for our tax dollar, maximize federal and state funding, and improve the quality of life in East Hampton.
I'm an optimistic realist. I believe we can have a win-win-win outcome if everyone is willing to compromise and do the right thing. In addition to being good at research and supporting my position with facts, I excel at seeing the big picture and getting results.
My fellow Chatham Party candidates and I share a passion and vision for East Hampton. No one tells us how to vote and there are no favors owed to anyone.
On Tuesday, give us a mandate for East Hampton's future. Be independent and vote independent for Row “C”.
Thank you for your continued support,
Sue Weintraub
