Letter to the Rivereast Editor
Scott Sanicki - Town Council
Back of the Room
In response to the several letters describing the environment at the state of the town address for East Hampton*, I was one of those in the seats at the back of the room. The above mentioned event as advertised was open to any and all town residents free of charge. For those of us that made the choice not to pay to attend this public address we were asked to be seated in 2 rows of chairs at the back of the room during the remarks. At no time were there objections to this as the rest of the hall was nicely set up with round tables for those participating in the dinning portion of the event.
When Town Council persons Sue Weintraub and Scott Minnick asked town manager Jeff O’Keefe if they could be seated with the rest of the council in the front of the room and refrain from dinning as they did not purchase tickets, they were instructed that the round tables were for ticket holders only and asked to sit in the rear with interested citizens such as myself and others. This is the reason the Chatham Party was at the back of the room.
As for the rest of the contents of the evening it was a very nice event were I was able to introduce and be introduced to many folks with great conversation such as Chris Burt prior to dinner and a hand full of folks during dinner that took the time away from their dinning experience to be social with the non-paying individuals. In addition we absolutely saluted our great citizens of our town with applause including one of my very own neighbors Russ Oaks.
